Elliott Twery "Neon 7" Large Oil on Canvas
Bold and thought provoking example of artist of note, Elliott Twery's work. "Neon 7" dates to the 1970s and features Twery's trademark bold palette and is part of a night cityscape series he painted over a number of years. Scene is likely located in Chicago and Twery painted many urban compositions from his frequent visits to the Windy City. The painting is in excellent condition and has a simple, metallic frame that complements the work nicely.
A painter, muralist and long-time Professor of Art Emeritus at Randolph- Macon Woman's College, Elliott Twery served on that faculty from 1956 to his retirement. Prior to that, he held teaching positions at Sweet Briar College, Newcomb College of Tulane University, and Louisiana State University.
Twery's painting focuses primarily on urban environments, both the reality of specific places and his imaginary vision, which he develops with the play of color and form.
