Beautiful French travel poster from 1920's with artwork by Charles Hallo ("Alo"). Part of a series of tourism posters done by French railways, this one by the Northern Railroad. It looks as though the headline of "Chemin de fer du Nord" was added after the initial printing of the poster, but during the original era.
This poster features the city's town hall, partially destroyed, with the phrase "After the departure of the enemy" in French ("Apres le depart de L'ennemi"). Cambrai was the site of a battle during World War I, in 1917. The warm sunset of purples and oranges retains it's vivid colors in this original 1920's stone lithograph. There are some wrinkling and small tears along edge, along with a tear repaired with tape, as shown in pictures. Measures 41" x 29.5"
Poster ships in 1-2 weeks from our showroom in Lynchburg, Virginia. Shipping cost is an estimate. Please contact us with any questions or for a specific shipping quote. Thanks for checking out our listing!
